Democratic lawmakers have made public a additional set of what they termed "troubling" images from the estate of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, depicting among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The opening batch of 19 photographs—a portion of which have been seen before—combined with another 70 released later on Friday constitute a small number of the nearly 100,000 images provided to the House investigative panel, which is looking into the actions and ties of Epstein.
The fallen money manager was a victim of apparent suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019 after being accused of sex-trafficking offenses.
Featured among the notable figures visible in the opening set are well-known figures including film director Woody Allen; Microsoft creator Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, creator of the Virgin business group.
Donald Trump is pictured in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is photographed with six women, whose faces are obscured.
The White House reacted to the release in a statement, alleging Democrats of selectively "hand-picking" the images for electoral motives and to "attempt to fabricate a false narrative."
"This Democratic fabrication against President Trump has been repeatedly debunked," a presidential representative said, maintaining that "the current government has accomplished more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats ever have by repeatedly calling for openness, making public reams of records, and demanding additional probes into Epstein's Democrat friends."
The photographs were disclosed devoid of explanation, but per a California Democrat and ranking member of the oversight committee, they raise more questions about Epstein's associations with wealthy individuals.
"Now is the occasion to end this White House obfuscation and bring justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," he declared in a comment.
The disclosure of these documents comes as the House panel proceeding with its investigation into the Epstein case.
