Almost 30% of corporate bosses note surge in digital threats on logistics networks

Approximately a third of corporate leaders have reported a marked increase in cyber-attacks targeting their logistics networks during the past six months, as recent cyber breaches on major corporations have underscored this increasing risk to today's organizations.

Online security issues rise priority lists for supply chain executives

Digital security concerns have climbed the ranking of priorities for procurement managers at hundreds companies internationally across multiple sectors including production, energy and tech, according to latest industry research carried out in the ninth month.

Prominent digital attacks lead to considerable economic damage

Latest security breaches at multiple prominent businesses have cost them tens of millions of currency, moving cyber resilience from being primarily the responsibility of digital security units to becoming a primary priority for executive leadership and company directors.

The nature of international commerce, the way we view global supply chains and the online distribution framework are increasingly interconnected,

commented a prominent professional association head.

International elements intensify supply chain concerns

Earlier this year, purchasing directors were particularly worried about geopolitical instability, including persistent conflicts in multiple regions, along with trade policies that weighed on international trade.

However, online attacks are now rivalling global tensions and trade disagreements as the most significant threat for members of international trade associations.

Research indicates widespread effect

The study found that 29% of executives reported that organizations within their supply chains had been attacked by digital attacks in previous months.

Significant car manufacturing effects

A notable car company experienced production shutdowns and was found itself incapable to build automobiles for an entire month, following a cyber-attack that compelled the organization to turn off computer systems across multiple overseas operations.

The financial consequences of this month-long production shutdown at Britain's largest automotive employer has been estimated at approximately 120 million pounds in foregone income, or one point seven billion pounds in lost revenues, according to expert assessment from a commercial economics professor.

Current worldwide cases

In late September, a major Asian beverage company became the latest organization to be compelled to halt manufacturing at its domestic factories following a cyber-attack.

The corporation, which maintains multiple production facilities in its home country producing drinks and additional items, announced that its order processing capabilities, along with shipping operations and client support services, had been interrupted following a network disruption caused by the digital intrusion.

Increasing integration produces weaknesses

Organizations are increasingly supported by external entities. No longer exist the days of viewing an business as an unit operating in independence.

Current prominent security incidents have functioned as a strong reminder to organizations to allocate resources to comprehensive digital defences, to safeguard their own operations and retain customer confidence, encouraging them to analyze how their logistics networks could become potential focus points for hackers.
