The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
