The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place recently, and through an impressive display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. This breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Game of the Year award, along with accolades for Best Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's success, the gifted actors also received individual awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved seven awards throughout the show.
Additional notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. Notably, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the public, with only four categories—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—decided by experts.
