The offspring of former South African Leader Zuma has denied all charges to terror accusations at the commencement of her court case in the coastal city of the city of Durban.
Zuma-Sambudla, forty-three, is being prosecuted over comments she made on online platforms several years back during violent demonstrations in South Africa that occurred subsequent to the arrest of her father.
A week of chaos in various areas of the country in July 2021, including theft and intentional burning, left at least 300 individuals killed and caused damage worth an estimated $2.8 billion (2.2 billion pounds).
The defendant has been charged of fuelling this turmoil and confronts allegations of provocation to commit terror-related activities and public disorder.
The protests were focused in the areas of the Gauteng province and KwaZulu-Natal province and came after the previous president's detention for disobeying a judicial ruling to give evidence at an inquiry into accusations of impropriety while he was in power.
The defendant has consistently denied the accusations against her, with her attorney earlier calling the state's case as insufficient.
She has also consistently stated the charges against her were an effort to address political grievances with her dad after he founded his own political organization and competed against the African National Congress.
This was supported by the foundation, which claimed the legal matter was an "misuse of authority" and a "organized effort" of "political and familial harassment" against the previous head of state and his kin.
A handful of supporters from her party, the political party, gathered outside the judicial building, while her parent and other group representatives attended the hearings inside.
The defense has maintained that the testimony presented by the state is insufficient and lacks substantial evidence for a guilty verdict.
The legal proceedings continues as all parties present their arguments before the court in what is expected to be a closely watched legal battle with major political consequences for South Africa.
