Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

She was also playing far from freely in the third set versus Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has troubled her during parts of the season.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

She held three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

Her coach was Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.
