Exploring a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have found plenty of interesting creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game lets you play a character that is actually a turd attempting to make its way to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: press a jump control. Throughout one hundred fifty stages, you'll face boss fights and access a shop to purchase customizations for your dung hero.

Execute your actions with caution, since one error means beginning again. Jump using air pockets to hurl yourself upward, traverse fragile surfaces, and touch switches to open secret routes. Collect UN-KOINS for buying challenging stages where the action ramps up.

In terms of design, the experience features vibrant stages and catchy soundtrack. The simple visual style of shifting abstract forms evokes memories of players of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although difficult to recall other games where you are a coiled turd, interactive entertainment frequently featured fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as fertilizer. And of course, this theme is present a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already received notable accolades, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game planned to arrive on PC on November 19.
