It has been confirmed that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their roles will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, given that the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.
This represents the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.
The film's events are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several prominent actors in important characters:
