Glasgow Warriors began their Champions Cup journey in ideal fashion with a crucial four-try away victory against Sale Sharks.

Taking advantage of the wind at their backs, Sale began strongly and built a 14-0 advantage within 20 minutes. Tries from Ernst van Rhyn and youngster Ollie Davies put them in command.

However, the visitors responded well with two tries before the interval. Hooker Hiddleston and flanker Rory Darge both crossed to reduce the gap.

Additional after the break scores from captain Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall extended the Warriors' advantage to 26-14. A late try for the hosts promised a nervous finale, but the visitors held firm to secure a major opening win.

Warriors Take Control Following Half-Time

Play began with a quick try as Sale captain Ernst van Rhyn scored from short distance after just two minutes. An early knock to midfielder Ma'asi-White introduced 19-year-old Davies into the fray for his European debut.

The youngster made an instant impact. Moving to fly-half, he took a good angle to collect an pass and score, making the home side's advantage.

Facing challenging conditions, Glasgow turned to their set-piece to get back into the game. A powerful driving maul was finished by front-rower Gregor Hiddleston. Prior to the break, Rory Darge barged over, with Adam Hastings' kick making it a two-point deficit at half-time.

Glasgow seized the advantage for the first time soon after the restart. A poor kick was collected by number eight Jack Dempsey, who set up skipper Steyn to burst through a tackle and sprint to the try-line.

With in the driving seat, Glasgow clinched the bonus point when McDowall powered past a tackle to celebrate his 100th appearance for the club. That score capped a run of 26 unanswered points.

Sale gave themselves a late hope when Louw showed good skills to cross. The kick made it a five-point game with minutes remaining.

A final opportunity came for them from a line-out in the 22, but they failed to secure the possession, sealing the Warriors' triumph.
