Peacemaker Season 2 Last Episode to Resolve Significant Fan Complaint, James Gunn Announces

Although the reception for Peacemaker season 2 has been largely favorable, with viewers and reviewers applauding the performances and storyline—despite the fact that the major revelation in the seventh installment didn't come as a surprise—one critique has intensified as the season continues: decreasing runtime lengths.

Over the past few episodes, audience members have expressed disappointment over the significantly reduced runtimes this season, and it's true, the episodes have been getting shorter and shorter. The seventh episode, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (not counting the summary, opening credits, and end credits), marking the briefest installment yet.

You'll be happy to know the upcoming finale is over 57 minutes long.

Series creator and DCU boss James Gunn wrote via social media, responding to a disappointed fan.

Despite this news, it's unknown exactly how much of the 57 minutes will be actual new footage, uncluttered by intro and outro segments, or summaries of past episodes. However, even if the episode contains all the aforementioned filler, that still leaves between 45 and 50 minutes for the finale, which is a significant improvement following the previous installment.

The director earlier teased that the finale would not only conclude Peacemaker but also give a hint towards the direction the broader DC Universe at large will be heading and serve as a kind of precursor for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Considering the cameo of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from episode 6, fans expect a exciting guest appearance to cap off the series.

Peacemaker's season conclusion, the eighth episode, is called "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to see if viewer theories are proven correct.
