The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed keeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals can't be real Spurs fans" by boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs let in two goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of 2025.
But the main talking point was Fulham's next goal when Vicario gave away the ball well outside his box.
He ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.
However, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
King passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.
Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario once more, some Spurs fans booed him.
Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.
A particular of those jeering sessions really irritated Frank.
"I heard some of our fans apparently jeered the incident and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Dane commented regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.
"Those individuals can't be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright jeering after the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second-half performance.
Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the second score was "completely avoidable".
"I certainly appreciate the fans' disappointment," Hart added. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a great squad member, he's a true figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.
"He was heavily involved in what ended up to be the decisive goal."
Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario After the Game
Italian national team Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old said after the match that he had to accept the criticism.
"The second goal was a mistake of my own, I accept responsibility for it," he commented.
"The intent was to kick the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult challenge to climb."
He said receiving jeers "comes with the game".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.
"It is on the team to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. We are missing in calmness and poise to reverse outcomes. This match is a poor loss and it's tough to accept."
Despite Vicario's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League goal of the campaign – following Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to target.
Ten moments passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five seconds following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the box for a long time," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the back four returned to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes sparked somewhat.
"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a little additional opportunity. After that it was all about trying to make the right connection and get it on target. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - the Manager
While the keeper's error led headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.
This was their 10th home loss of the year in the league, a shared club statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
They still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and title holders Liverpool to play prior to the close of the year.
Only one of those wins have come after the manager took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"When you're down 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.
"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the next is a error from Vic.
"This result puts us in a position where we have suffered an additional game. Every game has a single narrative, this game we lost in the early stages.
"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to develop."
Tottenham have been defeated in four consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.
And they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per game in the division – their lowest averages on file in a single campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Former Cottagers midfielder Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.
"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy said. "He's taken a high profile role at a major football club with enormous expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
