Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Arrives, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo alongside Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the upcoming animated film.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Based on Beloved Titles

Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The film will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The new Mario movie is set to release close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo confirmed three new games publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
