The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and insanity with the same glee, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a different setting and ensemble in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Each game is a variation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the core of people through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our shared irreverent, visionary sensibility to the television.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
